My dad disowned me at 18 and controlled everything for 22 years, then smirked at grandma’s will reading and said it had nothing to do with me—until I calmly introduced the executor and he went pale…

I reached into my purse and removed a thin folder.

Blake laughed. “What is that, your apology letter?”

“No,” I said. “It’s Grandma’s court-certified appointment.”

Dad’s smile thinned. “Appointment for what?”

I looked toward Mr. Ellis.

He gave a single nod.

Then I turned back to my father and said, “Actually, meet the executor.”

For the first time in twenty-two years, my father went pale.

My stepmother set down her coffee so hard that it spilled into the saucer.

“That is impossible,” she said.
