With votes still being counted, the Republicans have lost seven seats in the Senate and 25 in the House of Representatives, handing control of both to the Democrats.<\/p>\n

Vice-president JD Vance has blamed the war with Iran, inflation and the rising cost of living on his party\u2019s defeat.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trump bullishly posted to Truth Social: \u201cI wasn\u2019t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!\u201d<\/p>\n

Now the White House\u2019s X account has shared a message following the midterms results.<\/p>\n

The words, \u2018PSA: TRUMP IS STILL YOUR PRESIDENT,\u2019 appear in big, bold letters underneath the picture of the POTUS looking firmly down the camera lens.<\/p>\n

The caption reads: \u201cThank you for your attention to this matter,\u201d alongside a photograph of Donald Trump.<\/strong><\/h1>\n

However, many people aren\u2019t backing the White House\u2019s bold statement, with one X user replying: \u201cThe most powerful office on the planet, reduced to posting high school level petty [expletive]. What an embarrassing time in American history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another person responded: \u201cOh wow. This is so embarassing that we *almost* feel a little bad for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a late-night call with CBS News, Donald Trump did go on to congratulate his opponents, saying: \u201cMy message is, congratulations to the Democrats, and I look forward to working with you for the good of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n

After that, Trump added that he \u2018had a lot of veto power\u2019 and assured people he would \u2018be able to work things out.\u2019<\/p>\n

After winning control of both chambers of the US Congress, the Democrats publicly celebrated their victory.<\/p>\n

The short but impactful message, posted on X, read: \u201cLet\u2019s get to work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk also had his say after he donated almost half a billion in donations to Republican candidates.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuess my election-interfering space lasers didn\u2019t work this time [shrug emoji],\u201d Musk wrote on X.<\/p>\n

If all goes to plan, Donald Trump will remain in the White House until 20 January 2029, when his current four-year term comes to an end. In spite of the president hinting otherwise, he will not be able to run for a third term. Under the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution, no person can be elected president more than twice.
\nHowever, before the midterm results, experts said an impeachment could be a \u2018realistic possibility.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Democrats win the House, a third Trump impeachment becomes a realistic possibility, but it is far from inevitable,\u201d Dr. Schatz told UNILAD.<\/p>\n
