{"id":16911,"date":"2026-07-02T17:03:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T17:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/readingmydairy.com\/?p=16911"},"modified":"2026-07-02T17:16:00","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T17:16:00","slug":"alternet-alternet-bruised-white-house-now-fretting-over-july-4th-rally-attendance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/readingmydairy.com\/?p=16911","title":{"rendered":"Alternet Alternet Bruised White House now fretting over July 4th rally attendance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Donald Trump and his aides are worried that his upcoming July 4th rally, which is meant to cap off his Great American State Fair and America\u2019s 250th anniversary celebration, is going to be a flop.<\/p>\n<p>The concern exists because, despite the efforts of pro-Trump media outlets like Fox News to depict his Great American Fair as a success, it has in fact been a dud, from MAGA supporters\u00a0deriding it to a\u00a0triumphal arch\u00a0built for the event literally falling apart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInside his White House, there\u2019s growing angst over how many people will actually show up to celebrate,\u201d CNN\u2019s Adam Cancryn, Kristen Holmes and Piper Hudspeth Blackburn\u00a0reported on Wednesday. \u201cThe lackluster attendance for Trump\u2019s speech on the mall last week \u2014 a fact that has infuriated the president behind the scenes \u2014 has sparked fears of a similarly disappointing turnout when he headlines an Independence Day celebration, sources familiar with the matter told CNN.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet the speech may not get a large turnout given the triple-digit heat, tightened security and various planning problems. White House officials are apparently terrified of that happening.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not understand why we are doing this so late,\u201d a White House official told CNN, adding that aides are still trying to fix things for the president. \u201cI\u2019m really not sure who thought this was a good idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Making matters worse for the staff, Trump was reportedly \u201clivid\u201d when he only drew a small crowd to a campaign-style speech he gave last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough he wasn\u2019t initially aware of the size of the crowd, he later saw an aerial photo that showed acres of sparsely populated fields beyond the audience that had crowded around the stage,\u201d CNN reported. \u201cThe visual enraged him, the sources said, and multiple White House officials who had posted the photo deleted their posts.
