After my affair came to light, my husband never touched me again.

Part 3 — The Records He Hid

The specialist confirmed that I had undergone an emergency procedure shortly after arriving at the hospital.

It had permanently altered my fertility.

The surgery was medically unnecessary based on the records available.

There had been no infection, tumor, or condition requiring it.

The stated reason was “patient safety.”

The specialist asked whether I had signed consent.

I showed her the form.

“That is not my signature,” I said.

She recommended an independent review.

My attorney, Nora Ellis, requested the complete hospital file.

The hospital had changed ownership twice, but the archived records still existed.

When they arrived, the missing pages were included.

One note stated:

Spouse reports patient is emotionally unstable and may attempt further self-harm. Requests permanent contraception during treatment.

Another read:

Patient unconscious. Spouse signs consent.

I could not breathe.

Michael had told doctors I was unstable.

He had used my overdose to justify making a permanent decision about my body.

Nora read the records in silence.

“This may be a civil case,” she said. “Possibly more, depending on what investigators find.”

“What about the statute of limitations?”

“We’ll determine that. But first, we need the full chain of evidence.”

I asked Michael about the hospital.

He did not look surprised.

That frightened me more than denial would have.

“You were sick,” he said.

“I was unconscious.”

“You had made dangerous choices.”

“You signed consent for surgery.”

He stared at me.

“You betrayed me.”

“I did,” I said. “But you changed my body without my permission.”

His face remained hard.

“I protected the family.”

“No,” I replied. “You punished me.”

Part 4 — The Truth at the Kitchen Table

Michael finally admitted that he had requested the procedure.

He said he had believed another pregnancy would destroy our family.

I had never been pregnant during the affair.

There had been no medical reason for the surgery.

He had feared I might become pregnant in the future and use another child to “escape consequences.”

That sentence revealed how he had viewed me.

Not as a person who had made a terrible mistake.
