I Lied and Told My Dad I Failed With a 98.7 Score—Then I Exposed the Secret Plan to Steal My Mother’s House

Absolute silence.

Carol slowly stood.

“This child is lying.”

Mr. Sanders opened his briefcase.

“Actually…”

He placed a small USB drive onto the table.

“I think everyone should hear something first.”

He plugged it into the conference room television.

My hidden recording began playing.

Carol’s own voice filled the room.

“When she turns eighteen, make her sign.”

Arthur answered.

“If she fails the exam, she’ll have nowhere else to go.”

Then Carol laughed.

“We’ll sell the house and send Lily to Canada.”

The room became unbearably still.

Even the receptionist had stepped into the doorway.

Carol lunged toward the television.

Mr. Sanders unplugged it before she reached it.

The attorney slowly gathered his papers.

He looked at Carol with quiet disgust.

“My firm is withdrawing representation.”

Then he walked out.

Carol stared after him.

“Wait—”

He never looked back.

Emily refused the money.

Before leaving, she handed me the fake ID.

It had my name.

My birthday.

A forged signature.

But the photograph was hers.

“I’m really sorry,” she whispered.

I believed her.

She looked like another teenager manipulated by adults.

“Tell the police exactly what happened,” I said gently.

She nodded.
