One Year After Divorce, A Father Discovers The Twin Secret His Ex Wife Hid

Tessa stared at him.

Not with surprise.

With disbelief.

For several seconds, neither of them moved.

Then she said five words that stayed with Beckett long after she walked away.

“You really don’t know?”

That question followed him everywhere.

It followed him back home.

It followed him through the hours after sunset.

It followed him when he finally called Curtis Hale, the private investigator who had helped him during the divorce.

Beckett believed Curtis would explain everything.

Instead, Curtis looked like a man who had been waiting for this conversation and hoping it would never happen.

Something about him was different.

He avoided eye contact.

He hesitated before speaking.

And when Beckett asked about the babies, Curtis did not immediately answer.

Finally, he opened a locked drawer.

Inside were documents Beckett had never seen before.

Hospital records.

Delivery confirmations.

Emails.

And a handwritten note.

Curtis placed everything on the desk.

“I should have told you much sooner,” he said.

Beckett picked up the note.

The handwriting looked familiar before he even finished the first line.

The words stopped him.

“If Beckett ever finds out about the twins, make sure he never discovers what became of the third child.”

Beckett read it again.

Then again.

Because one word changed everything.

Third.

He slowly looked up.

“Third child?”

Curtis did not answer immediately.

He simply pushed the hospital record closer.

And for the first time in a year, Beckett realized the story of his marriage had never been complete.

The divorce had been built on pieces of information that looked convincing because they were incomplete.

Someone had given him a version of events.

Someone had allowed him to believe the worst.
